"Catfish" hosts Nev and Max have teamed up with MTV Act and MTV's movement against digital abuse, A Thin Line, to create Over The Line Confessionals -- a series of Q&A sessions with the two online relationship experts.
+ Watch Nev and Max Discuss How To Take Your Relationship Offline
In the first installment of Over The Line Confessionals, Max and Nev chat about how and when to meet someone you've met online in-person. "Meeting people online is fine," says Nev, "but you should always be careful. I don't think that you should ever meet a stranger in person that you've met on the Internet alone." When meeting someone for the first time, always bring a friend and insist on doing it somewhere public. There will be plenty of other opportunities for private time if your first encounter or two goes well!
Before meeting up, use video chat or Skype to confirm that your online lover or friend is really who they say they are. Pictures can be deceiving. "This plan sounds okay," says Max, "as long as you've seen the person at least on video chat or Skype and you know what you're getting into." Sound advice from a guy who knows a thing or two about Catfish!
