NevMaxScreenOTL-Post

"Catfish" hosts Nev and Max have teamed up with MTV Act and MTV's campaign against digital abuse, A Thin Line, to create Over The Line Confessionals — a series of Q&A sessions with the online relationship experts. In today's video installment, the fellas tackle whether or not to share your online passwords with your loved ones.

+ Watch Nev And Max Discuss Sharing Passwords

"Sharing a Facebook password is like a gateway drug," says Max, suggesting that once you've shared one password, it could eventually lead to you sharing all of them.

While some people are totally against sharing their private accounts with their significant others, the boys note that all relationships are different. "If the person is proving to you that they deserve the power you've given them... If you're both on the same page about things and you agree that this is okay to do and no one's abusing the power, then it's okay for you."

At the end of the day, you should only share your online, cell phone and other passwords if you want to — and it's gotta be a mutual thing. Going through someone's personal accounts without them knowing is totes digital abuse, just like it'd be wrong for someone to go through your stuff without your permission.
