Sweet Tweet: Ricky Martin Cries, 'Enough'

Ricky Martin has had enough. "No más odio, no más discriminación" ("no more hate, no more discrimination"), the singer tweeted yesterday. What prompted the plea for peace? Take a deep breath and read on.

Early Saturday morning in Santiago, Chile, a young man was found in a park -- brutally attacked by what appears to have been a neo-nazi group. Openly gay Daniel Zamudio, 24, was beaten and violently disfigured in a hate crime so ugly it's hard not to respond with rage. Yet Martin stuck to compassion. The rest of his tweet ("Espero que se haga justicia YA. Mucha luz para Daniel y toda su familia") translates as: "I hope justice is finally served. Much light for Daniel and his entire family."

Activists, government officials and the people of Chile are putting major pressure on lawmakers to hurry up and pass a proposed law that would ban discrimination based on gender and sexual orientation. Ricky Martin has been an outspoken advocate of LGBT rights over the past several years -- and a busy advocate for human rights throughout his career. He's also been known to crash the TV scene with a bilingual lesson or two for our favorite "Glee" club. Gracias por todo lo que haces, Ricky.
